Level 2 Support Engineer

My client are a service provider of data centre, cloud, infrastructure management and communications. Steady growth has resulted in the need for a
talented second line engineer to join the team.
Key responsibilities
Resolving client technical support issues
To take ownership of problems escalated to the second and third level technical support.
Provide 2nd level troubleshooting for servers, OS, Citrix applications (Xen App and Xen Desktop), VMware vSphere farms and perform
support for networks including WANs, Internet connection, Routers, Firewalls, email and web security.
Proactive monitoring of client systems
Reporting on system status to clients
Ensuring high levels of customer service are maintained at all times
Ensuring all required documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner
Ensure that all processes and procedures are followed to the highest professional levels
Willingness to be available for support after hours, if required
Skills required
Tertiary degree in computer science or similar is essential.
A Microsoft MCP certification or equivalent is required.
Another certification is required, such as Cisco CCNA, Citrix CCA, ITIL Foundation etc
2-3 years' experience and knowledge with Windows Server OS including Windows 2003 and 2008.
2-3 years' experience with backup and anti-virus systems is essential.
Strong working knowledge of DNS, DHCP is required
Solid experience with Active Directory management and policies
Working knowledge of virtualisation technologies like VMware and Citrix is essential
Good understanding of Network Design, TCP/IP, routers and firewalls concepts
Proven experience in structured troubleshooting;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Unquestionable integrity and honesty in all dealings;
Ability to multi-task, prioritise the work and perform under pressure
Maintaining a professional approach to tailoring client's needs.
Ability to work without supervision and integrate well in the team
